Community Development Director:

Position is responsible for all Town planning activities, as well as supervising the Town’s Building Inspection and Business Development functions.

Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration or Planning or related field and five years of experience or a Master’s Degree in Public Administration or related field and three to five years related experience in planning, or closely related field with some supervisory experience; or any combination of education, training, and experience, which provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities. Must be an AICP Certified Planner. Must have a valid State driver’s license.

Associate Municipal Judge

The Town of Moncks Corner Municipal Court Associate Judge is a contract position (non-employee) and reports to the Municipal Court Judge. The Associate Judge fills in when the Municipal Court Judge is unavailable or on an as needed basis only. The Associate Judge is expected to work approximately 10 days per year. Minimum requirements: applicant must be a US Citizen, a resident of the State of South Carolina for 5 years or more, 21 years of age or older, complete a training program or pass certification or recertification examinations, or both, within one year of taking office. Members of the South Carolina Bar are exempt from the examination. Equipment Operator II – Recreation Department

Performs various duties to maintain the grounds appearance throughout the Town recreation facilities by operating various types of equipment. Facilities include but are not limited to, baseball fields, soccer fields, football fields, basketball courts, and tennis courts. Battalion Chief

The Town of Moncks Corner Fire Department has an opening for a Battalion Chief. Under the direction and guidance of the Fire Chief, the Battalion Chief manages the operation of one of our fire stations, they are responsible for planning, organizing, directing, coordinating, and supervising activities of their assigned station which includes the management of personnel, fire prevention and training activities, and oversight of major programs to include the EMS program. Within the framework of standard practice and department policy, the Battalion Chief operates with considerable latitude for independent decision making. The Battalion Chief’s responsibly includes the mitigation of emergencies through responsive and effective management of fire suppression, emergency medical, rescue, haz-mat, and other incidents that pose a threat to public safety. Mitigation of emergencies may involve performing hazardous tasks requiring strenuous physical exertion for extended periods of time in cramped surroundings, hot, smoky environments with limited visibility and at considerable heights. Reports to the Fire Chief. Must be able to pass department physical examination, firefighter physical ability assessment and background check as required by SC 40-80-20. Must be able to wear and use PPE & SCBA.

A high school diploma is required. Six months of advanced study or training in fire service principals of leadership and management are required. Associates in fire science or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have a minimum of eight years of progressive, responsible fire service experience, with at least two years of experience as a Fire Captain. Valid SC driver's license required, NFPA Fire Officer 1 & 2, NIMS ICS-400 Advanced Incident Command, Current National Registry EMT or higher required.   Applications avail online www.monckscornersc.gov.

Firefighter 2/ EMT            

The Town of Moncks Corner Fire Department has openings for Firefighter 2 /EMTs. High school diploma or equivalent required. Must possess a valid South Carolina driver's license.   Must be able to pass department physical examination, firefighter physical ability assessment and background check as required by SC 40-80-20. Must be able to wear and use PPE to include SCBA.

These are Full time positions, 24/48 hour shift work. Job duties: Routine station duties, Fire, Rescue & EMS response.

Sanitation Operator I

The Sanitation Operator I is responsible for driving and operating the sanitation truck to collect refuse and debris in the Town as a backup driver when the Operator II is not available.  This position also acts as a refuse collector.  Requires a high school diploma or equivalent and one (1) year experience  operating a commercial vehicle.  Valid SC CDL Class B Drivers License required.  Full time position. Sanitation Operator II

Operates the Town’s sanitation truck for refuse and debris collection. Must have knowledge of all aspects of a Sanitation Department. A High School diploma or equivalent with one (1) year experience as a Sanitation Operator is required. A combination of experience and education of at least (1) year may be considered. Under regular supervision, performs general uniform patrol, investigative, or other police duties as assigned and enforces all state laws and town ordinances. Required to work various shifts including weekends and holidays. Uncertified applicants with related experience may be considered.

Qualifications:

  • Requires a high school diploma or GED equivalent to satisfactory completion of one year of college education or specialized advanced training in criminal justice

School Resource Officer

 

Category: Police Department

Position hours: Full time position.

Performs a wide variety of law enforcement activities specifically related to the school environment during the school year. Tasks are primarily service oriented and include working with and mentoring students, disseminating information, arbitrating disputes, and providing assistance through referrals, property protection, crime prevention, investigative, and other public safety services. Duties will also include regular police duties outside of the school environment when and where needed. Training and certification requirements must be maintained.
